OptimaxOptimax, the chain of eye surgery clinics, has appointed Pravda to its £3m advertising account after a pitch against undisclosed agencies.

The Manchester-based agency will work on a television ad and through-the-line campaign. It will also lead an overhaul of the brand, which will include new signage. Previously Optimax handled all marketing and creative work in house.

London-based Optimax has 18 clinics around the UK offering laser eye treatments, and is planning to expand over the next couple of years.

It has invested £5m in becoming the first clinic to bring the state-of-the-art IntraLase technology to the UK. It has performed more than 235,000 treatments on patients, making it the largest provider of laser eye surgery in the UK. It offers a range of eye correction procedures including implantable contact lenses, cataract surgery and vision correction treatments that start from £300.

Optimax was founded in 1991 by Russell Ambrose, father of Simon Ambrose, the winner of this year’s The Apprentice on BBC1.

Optimax is Pravda’s second client in the medical sector. It already holds the advertising account for Transform, the cosmetic surgery group. The group has 20 clinics in the UK offering breast surgery, fat reduction, cosmetic dentistry and hair loss treatment.
