Virgin Radio appoints ex-LBC managing director

Virgin Radio, the SMG-owned national station, has appointed former LBC managing director David Lloyd as programme director. The move comes just weeks after Lloyd left the London talk station following a management reshuffle by its new owner Global Radio.

The programme director role at Virgin has been vacant since the promotion of Paul Jackson to chief executive at the start of the year. At the time the station also expanded the role of marketing director David Andrews to include programming and audience research.

Jackson resigned from the station last month to take the role of managing director of Capital 95.8. He followed former Virgin chief executive Fru Hazlitt, who joined Capital-owner GCap Media earlier in the year as managing director of London.

Lloyd, who joined LBC in 2005, was previously managing director of Galaxy 105 and 102 in Manchester and Leeds.
