Five marketing director Scott announces departure

Five marketing director Jane Scott is leaving the broadcaster without a job to go to. Scott is planning to “take some time out” but will remain at the broadcaster until it confirms it succession plan.

It is understood her departure will lead to a shake-up of its marketing and creative services and insight and research teams.

Scott spearheaded the launch of two digital channels, Five Life and Five US, last year. The campaign for Five US attracted controversy and headlines with its “Who Said Nothing Good Ever Came out of America?” strapline.

Scott also relaunched Five’s on-air look and has been leading preparations for the revamp of the Five brands in 2008.

Scott was appointed in June 2005 and is a member of the channel’s executive board. She joined from the BBC where she was controller of TV marketing and joint acting head of marketing from October 2004.

She joined the BBC in 1997 as controller of TV strategy, leading the strategic marketing development, re-branding and launches of the corporations’ digital portfolio of channels.

Previously, she worked for the Financial Times as international marketing director and for the Telegraph Group and Andersen Consulting.
