Renault teams up with Nokia for branded Twingo launch

Renault is launching a limited edition version of its Twingo model in partnership with Nokia which will be kitted out with gadgets from the Finnish mobile phone giant. The car will be co-branded Twingo Nokia.

Twingo Nokia will come with a built-in MP3 music player, a satellite navigation system and hands-free Bluetooth phone control – all of which will be based on the Nokia 6110 Navigator phone.

The car will be available in France, Italy, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and Slovenia from November.

A Renault UK spokesman says the company is not planning to bring Twingo Nokia to the UK at this stage but does not rule it out in the future.

He adds the Twingo has only just launched in the UK despite being popular in Europe for a number of years and that it has fewer variants of the model in this country as a result.

The music player works through the MP3 functions on the Nokia 6110, connected by a USB cable. The phone provides drivers with full built-in GPS navigation capabilities and the GPS function can also be used outside the car. The hands-free phone control is compatible with the 6110 and most other Bluetooth phones on the market.

Twingo Nokia will have its own identity, with a special exterior design. It is based on the Dynamique version of the new Twingo and features dark metal trims and tinted rear windows as standard, as well as a Nokia-branded central pillar.
