Subway marketer joins InterContinental Hotels

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has appointed former Subway marketer Tom Seddon as its news chief marketing officer. Seddon will take up the position on November 1 and report to chief executive Andrew Cosslett.

In his new role, Seddon (pictured) will oversee all IHG brands including InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites, Candlewood Suites and Hotel Indigo. He will be responsible for the global brand strategy for each brand including worldwide sales, brand management and distribution marketing.

Seddon, who was previously Subway chief executive for the franchisee advertising trust fund, will replace Peter Gowers who has been promoted to IHG chief executive for the Asia Pacific region.

In July, the hotel group created a brand marketing division to strengthen its global strategy and develop the company’s Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express and Crowne Plaza brands.
