BT head of strategy leaves after 21 years

BT strategy and operations chief Andy Green is leaving the company after 21 years. Green, who oversaw the launch of BT’s original broadband service, steps down at the end of the year to become chief executive of IT services company LogicaCMG.

Green, who joined BT in 1986, has been chief executive of BT Group strategy and operations since April this year and is also a member of the group board. He helped build BT’s global business as chief executive of its Global Services division from 2001 until April 2007.

BT chief executive Ben Verwaayen says: “Andy has led a remarkable turnaround in our global business and helped set the company on its current course of profitable growth.”

Before joining BT, Green worked at Shell and Deloitte Haskins & Sells. He will replace acting chief executive Jim McKenna at LogicaCMG.
