Rajar, the radio audience measurement body, has appointed David Mansfield as chairman. He replaces Lord Gordon of Strathblane, who retired earlier this year after four years in the role.
Mansfield is currently an executive director of media investment company Ingenious Media and is also a former chief executive of Capital Radio Group. He took the same role at the company when it merged with GWR to create GCap Media until he left in September 2005.
He started his career in TV working at Scottish TV and Grampian Sales and was later deputy director sales and marketing at Thames Television. He has been a member of the Commercial Radio Companies Association, Radio Advertising Bureau and the Digital Development Bureau. He is a fellow of the Radio Academy and a non-executive director of Carphone Warehouse.
Mansfield says: “Measuring audience behaviour is a significant challenge for all media and particularly radio, which is at the forefront of the digital revolution.”
