Euro RSCG London has won the Conservative Party’s advertising account after a competitive pitch. It is not clear which other agencies were involved.

The agency is setting up a subsidiary – called Euro Referendum – to handle the account. It is understood that it will be led by UK group chairman Kate Robertson, chief operating officer Chris Pinnington and executive creative director Mark Hunter. The review was handled by the AAR.

Last month, as speculation about a snap General Election mounted, it emerged that the Tory Party had approached a number of London agencies but had received a poor response (MW 27 September).

It was understood that the party had engaged in high-level talks with senior members at M&C Saatchi, including Jeremy Sinclair, who was responsible for the Tony Blair “demon eyes” campaign.

Several agencies are thought to have declined to pitch for the business. Karmarama, which handles project work for the party, confirmed that it has turned down the opportunity to create an election campaign.
