Opie takes on marketing director duties at Five

Five is not replacing marketing director Jane Scott, who resigned earlier this month. The broadcaster is splitting her role, handing the bulk of Scott’s duties to managing director of content Lisa Opie (pictured).

The research and insight team, which focused on qualitative research into audiences, will move into Five’s sales operation and report to director of knowledge David Harrison. He is also responsible for quantitative advertising research.

Opie will be tasked refreshing Five’s on and off-air marketing in 2008. She will be responsible for overseeing the broadcaster’s £10m marketing budget across the terrestrial channel and digital offshoots Five US and Five Life.

Scott was appointed marketing director in March 2005. She joined from the BBC, where she was controller of TV marketing, strategy and channel director. She leaves without a job to go to.

Head of marketing Simon Downing will report into Opie.
