EMAP offers flexible ad slots on City Talk

EMAP is offering advertisers a range of “innovative commercial packages” on its new Liverpool talk station, City Talk, that aims to build relationships between clients and the local audience. The service launches in January.

The station will offer a range of deals, including ad-funded programming and sponsored documentary strands, as part of the strategy. It will also focus on helping clients to meet their corporate social responsibility goals in the local area.

EMAP Advertising will announce the plan to agencies today, as it unveils the station as “the voice of Liverpool”.

The station’s DJ line-up includes famous scousers Margi Clarke, Dean Sullivan, who played Jimmy Corkhill in Brookside, and former Liverpool FC players Ian St John and John Aldridge.

The station’s schedule will include news, sport, features, documentaries and a range of other speech-based shows.

EMAP Advertising broadcast sales director Karen Stacey says: “We will be offering complete flexibility to advertisers.”

EMAP is planning a major marketing campaign to support the launch of the station, which will coincide with the start of Liverpool’s year as Capital of Culture. It has appointed local agency Ampersand to develop the station’s logo and advertising campaign.

In September, the media group relaunched digital-only station Heat Radio with a “VIP” club of advertisers, including BSkyB, Diet Coke, Boots and Ford (MW September 27).
