Bebo offers chance to star in KateModern

Social networking site Bebo is offering viewers of its online drama KateModern the chance to appear in a series of live episodes of the show. The shows will be filmed across London and will run for a week.

The initiative kicks off on November 19 with viewers of KateModern given a daily video clue which will lead them to a specific location in London. They can use Microsoft’s Windows Live mapping technology to find the location and then will be invited to join the characters and participate in the show.

Bebo, which launched KateModern in July, claims the show – starring Ralf Little – has 1.5 million viewers per week.

Bebo is looking to broaden its appeal by positioning itself more as an entertainment portal than just a community site. It is set to launch a series of initiatives with the BBC, Channel 4 and ITN.
