E.on ends seven-year sponsorship of Ipswich FC

E.on is scrapping its sponsorship of Ipswich Town Football Club after seven years. The energy supplier says the current contract will not be renewed after it expires at the end of the 2007/08 season.

It is thought that e.on has ended the deal to concentrate on its sponsorship of the FA Cup, although it will continue to be the club’s energy supplier.

In October, e.on announced that it was closing its operations in Ipswich and will shut it offices there by summer 2008, leaving more than 300 staff facing redundancy.

Earlier this month, e.on launched its Carbon Footprint campaign, which aims to reduce the environmental impact of the FA Cup over the course of the season.

In September, e.on terminated its 18-year relationship with ITV weather.
