Marketing head John Luck leaves Time Out magazine

Time Out group marketing director John Luck is leaving the company after three years. It is understood he is in talks with a number of undisclosed companies about a new role.

The listings magazine group is seeking a replacement and is understood to be considering at least one internal candidate as well as looking outside the company.

Luck joined as marketing director of the London listings magazine three years ago. His role was later expanded to cover the Time Out travel guides, international licensing business and online activities. He was also responsible for its sponsorship work.

Prior to joining Time Out, Luck spent four and a half years at Coca-Cola, where he was part of a senior brand team. He has also spent four years at Premier Foods, where he was senior brand manager for Typhoo Tea.

Time Out recently hired Mark Elliot, a former publisher of Empire, as the publisher of its London magazine and website. Elliot will join in January.

Time Out has 21 international editions, in cities such as New York and Tel Aviv, and its Travel Guides sell more than 800,000 copies each year.
