GCap Media strikes iTunes deal

GCap Media, the owner of Capital 95.8, has signed a cross-promotional deal with iTunes to offer listeners easier access to music and podcasts. It will include station-branded areas on iTunes and links from the station’s 53 websits to the online shop.

The deal will be supported by a heavyweight campaign including on-air trails, live DJ mentions, competitions and online promotion. The pair will also collaborate on exclusive offers for listeners such as offering Xfm listeners free downloads of the iTunes festival.

Capital 95.8, Choice, Xfm and Classic FM will be the first stations to have a branded area on the store. Listeners will have access to albums, highlights and podcasts.

Robin Pembroke, group director of interactive and online, says: “It allows our users to easily buy the music they are listening to on our stations. It is another step in developing innovative listening experience for the computer, iPod and iPhone.”
