Red Bee Media has appointed former Carlton Screen Advertising chief executive Adam Poulter to executive commercial director.
Poulter, who will also join the executive management team at the agency, will oversee strategy, sales and marketing, technology, client management and new product development for the production, creative services and playout company. He will report to chief executive Pam Masters.
Poulter joins from MIVA, a global independent online search business, where he was European group managing director. He replaces John Pink, who left in June last year to join specialist media company MPS Broadband.
Poulter previously worked at digital content distribution company IMD, where he was chief executive, and led the US start-up of cinema advertising network Screenvision. He has also held senior media roles at TDI UK, now CBS Outdoor, Bartle Bogle Hegarty and Leo Burnett.
BBC Broadcast was sold to Macquarie Capital Alliance Group for £166m in June 2005 and was rebranded as Red Bee Media later that year.
Red Bee Media creates in- house trailers for the BBC and ads for external clients. It has worked with telecoms brand Orange on its TV-via-broadband service and was integral to the development and launch of the BBC iPlayer catch-up TV service.
It is also expected to take on Channel 4’s outsourced channel operations following plans announced by the commercial broadcaster in Nov- ember. Its broadcast and production services have previously been handled in house.
