Titan promotes UK head of marketing to global role

Titan Worldwide, the outdoor company, has promoted UK marketing director David Etherington to senior vice-president and worldwide marketing director.

Etherington will lead Titan’s worldwide marketing and advertising strategy and will relocate to the company’s New York office for the role. He will remain in the UK until a replacement is found.

Titan Worldwide president and CEO Donald Allman says: “He is extremely creative, has great energy and is strongly committed to our aggressive growth plans in all of our global markets.”

Etherington joined Titan Worldwide in May 2007 from Guardian News & Media, where he was responsible for launching the paper’s website. He began his career as an advertising sales executive for BBC Music Magazine and later moved into media planning, strategic development management sponsorship and events management across The Guardian’s portfolio.

Etherington launched and headed Guardian Plus, the internal team that works with its brand teams and agency roster. He also spearheaded the development of content partnerships.

Titan has made a number of staff changes over the past six months. In September, it appointed Joe Hall as head of insight in a move aimed at boosting the marketing department (MW September 13). This followed the appointment of Madalyn Roker, who joined as business delivery director, and Graeme Hughes, who took over as commercial director of roadside. It also appointed Nicola Campbell as head of group sales.

Last summer, the company was appointed to handle the six-year advertising contract for Eurostar terminal at the reopened St Pancras station.
