Ex-Ferrari executive joins SsangYong relaunch
SsangYong, the Korean car marque relaunching in the UK, has made its second senior hiring in two weeks by appointing Ferrari GB executive Ian Nicholson as finance and operations director. The news follows the appointment of former Kia UK chief Paul Williams as managing director at the start of last week (MW†January 10).
Nicholson, who was previously operations director at Ferrari, will oversee the commercial performance of the relaunched SsangYong, which went into administration at the end of last year.
Koelliker UK, part of Gruppo Koelliker, has taken on the importation and distribution of SsangYong vehicles in this country. It has acquired certain assets from SSangYong UK, including vehicle and parts stock and offices in Hampshire.
Williams is also looking for a senior marketer as part of the relaunch of the marque, which is 51% owned by Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation.
