Yahoo! and T-Mobile agree Web ‘n’ Walk deal
Yahoo! has struck a deal with mobile phone operator T-Mobile UK to handle on-portal advertising for its Web ‘n’ Walk internet service. Yahoo! will sell and serve graphical mobile advertising, such as banner ads, for the operator.
The ads will be rolled out over the first half of this year. T-Mobile and Yahoo! say their combined expertise will allow advertisers to target their core audience on mobile.
It is not known how long the deal will run, although a Yahoo! spokeswoman says the internet brand is looking to work with T-Mobile “for the long haul”. The two companies have sealed a revenue share deal, although details have not been disclosed.
T-Mobile UK launched Web ‘n’ walk in 2005. Web ‘n’ Walk packages enable T-Mobile UK subscribers to surf the internet on their mobile for a flat rate. A number of plans exist from the five-day pass for £2.50 to £7.50 a month for unlimited browsing.
