British Gas marketing head moves on

British Gas commercial and marketing director Amanda Mackenzie is leaving the utilities provider to join insurance and investments company Aviva, as group marketing director. She will report directly to group chief executive, Andrew Moss.

Mackenzie, who takes over her new role on March 3, will also join the executive board. Moss says: “Focusing on our customers and the development of the Aviva brand will be fundamental to the success of ‘One Aviva’.”

She joined British Gas in 2005 after quitting her role as European vice-president of marketing at Hewlett Packard after just a year. Prior to that, she was group marketing director at BT for three years.

Mackenzie says of the appointment: “By creating role that gives a strong marketing voice at the top executive team, Aviva is clearly acknowledging the critical important of understanding its customers through-out the world, delivering what they need, and communication to them in a relevant way for today.”
