Steve Orchard (pictured), GCap Media operations director, is leaving the radio operator in April. He will step down from the executive board with immediate effect.

It is not known who will replace Orchard or if he has a job to go to. His departure comes just weeks after Ralph Bernard, the former GCap Media chief executive, announced he was stepping down from the role. He has been replaced by Fru Hazlitt, who was previously managing director for its London operations.

Orchard says: “I have built strong and enduring relationships with my colleagues over very many years and I am immensely proud of our achievements during my stewardship as group operations director.”

Radio veteran Orchard joined GWR Group, which is now GCap Media, more than 24 years ago. He was a programme controller at GWR FM in Wiltshire and Bristol and was later made station director. As the group expanded, he became operations director for local radio. He was group operations director when the group merged with Capital Radio Group in 2005 and took the same role at the new group.
