New campaign – Virgin

Virgin blasts off

Virgin Galactic has branded 2008 the Year of The Spaceship and will unveil plans for the space travel brand at a special launch event in New York this afternoon (Wednesday).

The brand’s revamped logo will be officially revealed at the event along with revolutionary new designs for the spaceship and the launch vehicle that will take tourists into space.

The branding was inspired by Phillipe Starck and developed by agency GBH. The livery for the space launch system has been done by START.

Details of ticketing will also be revealed at the event. Sales will be handled by accredited sales agents from the Virtuoso network in the US and Elegant Resorts in Europe, and all agents have been sent on a training course involving a ride in a centrifuge.

Virgin Galactic has already sold 200 tickets at $200,000 (£102,600) each.

Advertising guru Trevor Beattie has provided marketing expertise to the Richard Branson venture, in return for a trip into space.
