Renault has promoted former UK managing director Christian EstËve to run its Euro-Mediterranean region. EstËve, who will report directly to Renault president and chief executive Carlos Ghosn, will be responsible for the marque in Western Europe, Russia and Turkey.
EstËve, who will continue as director of Renault’s corporate resources department, joined the company’s management committee at the start of this year. Senior vice-president of global marketing Stephen Norman was promoted to the management committee at the same time, just three months after he moved to the French marque from Fiat.
EstËve joined Renault in 1984 and became financial director in 1987, before moving to the UK as managing director. In 1996, he was appointed marketing director of the DIAC group but returned to Renault two years later to lead negotiations to buy the company’s Romanian unit Dacia. He was named deputy corporate secretary general of the Renault group in 2003.
EstËve takes over from Luc-Alexandre MÈnard as the leader of the management committee for the Euromed business. MÈnard remains senior vice-president of public affairs.
