Sugar Magazine launches online voucher
Teen title Sugar Magazine has launched a payment card that allows its readers to spend cash online. The card, launched with card company Ukash, was launched with the March issue of the magazine.
The Sugar Ukash comes with £5 credit, which readers can redeem on certain social networking and gaming websites including Habbo Hotel, Stardoll, Fake Town and Dance Battle Audition.
Ukash allows consumers to purchase voucher cards using independent payment network, PayPoint, which is available in newsagents, grocery stores and petrol stations.
Mark Chirnside, Ukash chief executive, says it will allow Sugar readers to spend their own money online in safe environments. The credit cannot be redeemed at age-restricted sites if purchased by under-18-year-olds.
The Hachette Filipacchi UK-owned magazine is aimed at 13- to 17-year-old girls and has a circulation of 187,059.
