Advertising regulator bans another egg advert
The television advertising regulator has banned an egg company from using children’s voices in a campaign to promote Omega 3 eggs. The Clearcast ruling comes six months after a re-run of the Tony Hancock “Go to work on an egg” advert was also banned.
Clearcast, formerly the Broadcast Advertising Clearance Centre (BACC), has ruled that Noble Foods cannot use 10-year-olds to sing the song “Chick, chick, chick, chick, chicken, lay a little egg for me”. The ad does not, however, feature any children.
Noble Foods has recorded the ad with the voices of adults.
The Tony Hancock ad was banned because it showed him eating two eggs for breakfast, which promotes an unbalanced diet.
