Thelondonpaper extends freesheet lead

News International evening freesheet thelondonpaper has extended its lead over Associated Newspaper rival London Lite, according to the latest Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) figures.

Thelondonpaper has posted its best figures in over six months, an average circulation per issue of 500,592, up 6.25% from January.

London Lite and morning sister-title Metro London also enjoyed a respite from the Christmas drop in circulation, posting improved figures. London Lite rose 2.44% month on month from 389,820 to 398,820 but remained below figures posted in November. Metro saw its average distribution per issue rise 1.23% from 742,291 in December to 751,444 in January, and up over 25% year on year.

Meanwhile, business freesheet City AM has slipped further from its October high of 100,576 copies, falling 2.35% from December to January posting a circulation of 84,489.
