EdwardsGroomSaunders wins Spinvox launch task
Spinvox, the voice-to-text phone technology, is understood to have appointed communications planning agency EdwardsGroomSaunders ahead of a marketing push.
Spinvox confirms it is in talks with EGS about its digital marketing plans.
The UK-based service is bidding to drive its user base above six million global subscribers during 2008 and is understood to be plotting a major marketing drive.
The technology company is sponsoring a high-profile event at the Institute of Contemporary Arts later this month, the Figures of Speech dinner which supports the ICA’s New Commissions Fund for emerging artists.
The event is being hosted by Graham Norton and features speakers such as actor Jude Law and supermodel Elle Macpherson. The ICA will use Spinvox technology as a blogging tool, as well as its initial function as a voicemail converter.
Spinvox was launched as a business-to-business proposition but it is looking to a consumer launch this year after agreeing tie-ups with mobile carriers such as O2, Vodafone and T-Mobile.
Spinvox appointed former MTV Networks UK & Ireland vice-president of marketing, James Sproggs, as marketing director in June last year and has rolled out new branding by spatial design agency Free State.
The service converts voice to text and sends it directly to the recipient’s mobile phone as text messages, or alternatively to their email inbox.
Spinvox has also launched a SpinMyBlog service where people can leave voice messages that are translated into text and put on blog sites.
A year ago it teamed up with radio brand Magic 105.4, then owned by EMAP, to offer a Valentine-themed blog service called Mellow Magic Love Line (MW February 15, 2007).
