Ryanair on look-out for UK financial partners

RyanairLow cost airline Ryanair is looking for financial partners in the UK after unveiling a car insurance product in Ireland.

The carrier, which runs subsidiary financial company Ryanairmoney.com, says it is keen to extend its offering beyond the company’s domestic market after launching its No Nonsense Car Insurance in Dublin this week.

The insurance product in Ireland is a joint venture between Ryanairmoney.com and FBD Insurance, and promises to cut insurance premiums by 50%.

Santina Doherty, head of ancillary revenue at Ryaniar, says the company would be interested in expanding operations to the UK.

Doherty says: “It is a reputable insurer offering a nofrills policy to us so we are able to offer a unique product. It is fair to say we are looking for similar partners in the UK.”

She says the Ryanair is synonymous with value and that the name carries enough weight outside Ireland to support such brand extensions.

“We have enough brand awareness in a number of markets to offer a partner access to a very large customer base,” she says.

Ryanairmoney.com was launched last year and already provides financial services including a travel insurance product in association with Acumus Insurance and a home insurance product with low-cost Irish insurer 123.ie.

The airline also offers 3V credit card vouchers and has launched its own branded credit card.
