Inbev UK ceo departs after 14 years

Inbev UK’s high-profile chief executive Richard Evans is stepping down after 14 years with the company. He leaves with immediate effect without a job to go to.

Evans’ departure comes as the Belgian brewer struggles to stem a heavy year-on-year decline in volume sales of its flagship brand, Stella Artois.

Evans will be replaced by the former Inbev UK take-home director Stuart MacFarlene, who is currently Inbev global director of customer standards. He is based at the company Belgian headquarters but will now return to the UK.

Evans was appointed president of Inbev UK and Ireland in 2006 having previously held a range of positions covering brands, marketing and commercial strategy. He held the position of vice-president commercial strategy and subsequently vice-president brands from 2003 to 2006, where he was responsible for the development of Inbev’s global sales and marketing.

Last month, he appointed the marketing director of its German division, Andreas Hilger to the same role in the UK to replace Devin Kelly (MW January 31).
