Scandinavian homewares retailer JYSK has appointed MediaVest Manchester to handle its media planning and buying business ahead of its launch in the UK this spring. The first shops are due to open in Mansfield and Lincoln.
JYSK is the second Scandinavian retailer to come to the UK after rival homewares chain Ilva, which launched in 2006. Both chains compete against BHS and Habitat.
The retailer was first established in 1979 in Denmark and has 1,350 stores worldwide in 29 countries. It sells bedroom goods including linen, duvets and beds and also general furniture.
Dara Goolsby, JYSK UK sales and marketing manager, says: “There is a lot of opportunity for JYSK in the UK. We are really looking forward to securing ourselves a considerable share of the home furnishing market, presenting customers with good offers and value for money.”
