Chime wins Olympics integrated advertising account

The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (Locog) has appointed the Chime Group to handle its integrated advertising account for the next year. The appointment follows a pitch handled by the AAR.

Chime will be responsible for advertising, promotion, digital and PR until March 2009, including the handover ceremonies in Beijing. The pitch was overseen by London 2012 chief executive Paul Deighton and commercial director Chris Townsend.

Chime put together a pitch team that consisted of Vallance Carruthers Coleman Priest, VCCP Digital, BMT, Bell Pottinger and Fast Track. Chime chief executive Chris Satterthwaite says: “Briefs like this come round once in your lifetime only. It’s not just about sport – it’s about the Games and legacy they will leave.”

Locog says there will be a requirement for additional agency support, particularly in the arts and culture sector, which will be tendered separately. A spokeswoman adds that it has not yet decided on its agency plans beyond 2009.
