Uniross, the France-based green battery specialist, is seeking a European marketing and communications director to drive the launch of a range of rechargeable batteries.
The company is launching the first full range of hybrio technology batteries in the UK this week. The batteries work straight from the pack rather than needing to be charged before use.
The products are colour-coded to help consumers navigae the range. It has variations for everyday appliances, including products requiring extra power and high-drain electronics.
The line will launch in, among others, Asda, John Lewis, Argos and Amazon over the next few months. The launch will be supported by an integrated marketing campaign, including a promotion that will see 100,000 free chargers being given away to encourage new users.
The push is planned to coincide with the EU Batteries Directive, which comes into force in September.
The directive will impose a legal obligation on the supply chain to collect and dispose of batteries in a prescribed way. Uniross sees the forthcoming implementation of the EU directive as an opportunity for the company to emphasise the environmental benefits of rechargeable batteries.
The new Uniross range is endorsed by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), which entered a three-year European partnership with Uniross in 2006. At the time, Uniross agreed to fund several environmental initiatives around the theme of sustainable consumption and to launch a range of products carrying the WWF logo.
