Elizabeth Arden loses top marketer
Elizabeth Arden UK and Ireland marketing director Scott Harvey-Nicholls has left the company suddenly, after less than six months in the job. It is unclear if he has another job to go to.
Harvey-Nicholls was drafted in last September from Elizabeth Arden’s office in Australia where he had served as marketing director from 2006.
The beauty brand says Harvey-Nicholls left the company because he “discovered other opportunities that he wanted to explore”.
The company says it has not yet decided whether to seek a replacement for Harvey-Nicholls. It is reviewing its marketing arrangements in the UK.
Harvey-Nicholls said he planned to overhaul the brand’s promotional strategy in the UK and focus on online and sampling campaigns similar to those he had successfully implemented in Australia. The company says it spent £3m on advertising in 2007 – more than double the previous year.
Elizabeth Arden says it intends to expand its celebrity and European designer fragrances portfolio. In November, it launched M by Mariah Carey with a £2m print and television campaign. Earlier this month Italian fashion designer Alberta Ferretti announced she is to launch a signature fragrance under a long-term licensing agreement, with the fragrance set to debut in 2009 and be followed by a line of cosmetics and skin care products.
