Expedia promotes Tamar to MD role

Expedia Distribution has promoted Tamer Tamar to managing director and vice president for Europe Middle East and Africa region (EMEA). Tamar will be responsible for the day to day running of the business across this region.

Tamar joined Expedia Distribution, the company’s white label products arm, in 2004 as business development manager for the UK. He was then promoted to director of car hire and was most recently he was director of corporate development, overseeing “growth strategies” and managing relationships with partners.

Prior to joining Expedia Tamar was a management consultant for AT Kearney in London and Chicago, specialising in supplier negotiations and business growth strategies.

Expedia Distribution, formerly Expedia Private Label, has signed a number of deals over the last few months. In January, it signed an exclusive deal with Sky to provide a full service booking website for city breaks, flights, hotels and car hire products as part of Sky’s new travel portal.
