Internet service provider Easynet has appointed Mark Madden as its first global marketing director.
Madden has been tasked with leading the BSkyB-owned company’s global product management and marketing teams. He will also focus on pushing the brand’s global reputation.
“Easynet has been associated with small to medium size businesses,” says Madden. “But we have a massive pan-European and global presence. We are looking to push that message.”
Madden has also been briefed to explore opportunities arising from Easynet’s expansion into China and the US. ‘We need people to understand Easynet’s scale,” he adds.
Madden says that Easynet will not be focusing on mass market advertising, but on corporate customers. He says Easynet will be looking to be present at “keynote” events to create interest among corporate customers.
Easynet says one of Madden’s first priorities in his new role will be to launch the company’s high definition video conferencing solution.
Madden has 25 years experience in global managed services product management and operations. Madden was previously at BT Openreach and AT&T Global Services.
Easynet provides a range of internet connectivity and hosting services, from DSL access and routed ISDN lines to facility-managed servers and network operations. It also offers virtual private network services, providing direct access in eight European countries and through partners worldwide.
Easynet’s clients includeFord Motor Group, H&M, Navteq, and Thales Telecom. The company was acquired by BSkyB in early 2006.
