Microsoft appoints Nintendo marketer as VP

Microsoft has appointed former Nintendo marketer David Gosen as vice-president, strategic marketing of its Interactive Entertainment Business for Europe, Middle East and Africa. He joins on April 1.

Gosen joins from mobile gaming company I-Player where was chief operating officer. He has a brief to growth the Xbox 360 across the region and will also be responsible for communications strategy and marketing for Microsoft’s IEB division. He will also oversee Xbox Live in Europe.

He says: “Xbox 360 is now a mass market gaming console and the recent price reduction we’re poised to open the market for Xbox 360 even wider.”

Gosen has 20 years experience in the games industry and with major consumer and consumer technology brands in Europe. He spent five years at Nintendo, where he was responsible its handheld and console games. Prior to that, he was marketing and distribution developer at BSkyB.

Gosen has also served in senior management positions at Mercury One-to-One Pepsico and Coca Cola and Schweppes Beverages.
