‘Irresponsible companies’ face the Corporate Hall of Shame

Corporate Accountability International is asking consumers to vote for the companies they believe act least responsibly. Three of the nominees will be inducted into the Hall of Shame in July.
Nestlé has been nominated for numerous alleged labour violations including child exploitation and for claims that it is contributing to the obesity epidemic. Toyota has been criticised for its lobbying against increased fuel economy standards and state measures to reduce global warming gas emissions, while at the same time spending millions on advertising its environmental credentials.
Mattel is also a nominee for producing lead-contaminated toys, leading to two major product recalls last year, and lobbying against bans on other highly toxic chemicals.
Previous inductees to the Hall of Shame include retailer Wal-Mart, oil company ExxonMobil and Philip Morris.
