Telegraph Media Group appoints commerce head

Telegraph Media Group (TMG) has appointed Howard Clare as director of Telegraph commerce. Clare joins from brand licensing company, Equity Management, where he was European director.

Clare has worked in the brand licensing industry for more than 15 years, including five years with Warner Brothers. He will work across all TMG’s brands; The Daily Telegraph, The Sunday Telegraph, Telegraph.co.uk and The Weekly Telegraph.

TMG recently undertook a review of its agencies and earlier this month appointed Adam & Eve and Amp to handle its £5 million advertising and direct marketing accounts. The review was called after CHI & Partners resigned the account late last year to take on The Times’ advertising business.

In February, TMG moved its £10 million media planning and buying account into Carat after a pitch against an undisclosed number of agencies but including the incumbent of ten years, Universal McCann (MW 14 February).

TMG has recently invested heavily in its online offering, Telegraph.co.uk and has launched seven new shows on its online video service Telegraph TV. The company has also expanded its in-house production department and can create audio and video content for advertisers.
