Name: Chris Cullen

Company: Broadsystem

Job title: Head of client services

What keeps you busy all day?: As head of client services the major part of the day is spent ensuring the clients are happy. Whilst service excellence is a given, the challenge is to go beyond expectations and develop an ever evolving proposition.

What keeps you awake at night?: Thinking where the market’s going and how it’s evolving. But that’s the best part. More often than not the challenge is to push the boundaries in digital ever further.

Describe your working day: Everyday is different which keeps things exciting. Daily challenges range from trouble-shooting, turning around a quick brief, or developing a new product service that is startlingly different.

What’s your busiest time of day?: Between 8am and 6pm! Priorities are forever changing which helps keep my job stimulating.

What brands/accounts have you worked on?: Financial Times, The Times, Sky, Lancôme, Associated News, Marriot, BBC and the COI, Toyota and Honda.

Best day at work: I get a buzz when something is achieved that makes a real difference. Maybe it’s a new approach, even revolutionary approach that creates a positive commercial impact.

Worst day at work: I still clearly remember an incident from a previous role early in my career which involved sending out a product recall notice to the wrong 10,000 customers. Needless to say it was a messy mistake but definitely a knock which I learnt from and put me in good stead for the future.

Name one thing you’ve achieved that has made your bosses sit up and take notice: A great moment at Broadsystem has to be when I led the team that developed The Times Previews weekly newsletter that let’s users select the content they recent. And the string of awards that came with it was also rather nice!

Ambitions: To leave a lasting legacy when I’m gone.

Advice to other rising stars: Never take no for an answer and never accept mediocrity. Keep challenging yourself to do better.
