Channel 4 appoints head of new media for radio

Channel 4 has appointed Daniel Heaf as head of new media for 4 Radio and Multi-Media Entertainment. He joins from BBC Worldwide, where he was worked on the Lonely Planet and Top Gear websites.

Heaf will work across all of Channel 4’s national digital radio stations and will have overall responsibility for the strategy development of all new media extensions for both the radio brands and the group portfolio. He will also develop new multi platform projects in entertainment across Channel 4.

He will report jointly to Bob Shennan, director of radio, and Jon Gisby, director of new media and technology. It is not known when he will take over the role.

Shennan says Heaf will be “a critical force in the develop of Channel 4’s radio brands.”

Gisby adds: “By using new platforms to enhance radio he’ll also be pioneering ways of creating content, engaging audiences and building revenues which can be applied across everything we do.”

Prior to working at BBC Worldwide, Heaf held head of new media roles at BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra and the BBC teens brand, Switch.
