Haribo%20sweet%20packHaribo has appointed Quiet Storm to handle the £1m advertising account for its Maoam and Haribo confectionery brands.

The agency won the account following a competitive pitch against undisclosed agencies. It is not clear if the incumbent agency Kastner & Partners was involved.

Haribo is understood to be increasing its advertising spend next year for both the eponymous brand and Maoam. In February, it launched a TV campaign for Maoam aimed at 16to 34-year-olds, supported by a sampling campaign and on-pack activity.

The review has not affected its media account, which is handled by Media-edge:cia Manchester.

The review follows the appointment of Herwig Vennekens as its UK managing director last October. He replaced Per Henérius, who moved to the same role at the company’s Denmark division. Vennekens joined from spice manufacturer McCormick UK, which makes and distributes McCormick and Schwarz spices, and is also a former Procter & Gamble marketer.

Haribo’s most popular product is the gummi bear, but it also makes liquorice sweets, Maoam fruit sweets, marshmallows, cookies and Pez dispenser sweets. Haribo launched in 1933, moved into the US in 1982 and now exports to 150 countries around the globe.
