Spreadex previously work-ed with Arena BLM and several regional agencies. MC&C will work alongside the company’s digital agency, DesignUK, to try to bring in new users and improve communications with its current account holders.

The appointment comes ahead of product launches and plans to expand its marketing activity on- and offline. In the past, the company has focused its marketing spend online using paid-for search, behavioural targeting and contextual activity.

Spreadex, which was founded by former City trader Jonathan Hufford, launched in 1999. It launched an online sports betting service, enabling people to study markets and place bets online, in 2006 and moved into online financial trading a year later. According to the company, spread betting is undergoing significant growth driven partly by tax advantages over normal equity-based trades.

MC&C is a data-led media agency and its clients include Nestlé, Which?, ITV Play, Channel 4, the Direct Marketing Association, the National Deposit Friendly Society and Manchester United TV.
