Coldplay will be the debut “star interview” on the relaunched Q Radio. It will be aired during the flagship QPM show, presented by Samanthi on June 2.

The digital-only station, which is owned by Bauer Radio, will play a mix of exclusive live performances as well as new music from emerging and established bands.

The station has also signed broadcaster and writer David Quantick, who has worked on Brasseye and Grumpy Old Men, to present a Saturday show between 4pm and 6pm.

Q programme director Ric Blaxill says: “We’re delighted to have a Coldpay interview in the first show which coincides with them being cover stars of the next issue of Q Magazine.

“We’ll always be looking at how we can make a difference by working with the editorial team to create content to work across all the different Q platforms – on the page, on air and online.”

Other presenters lined up for the station include DJ duo The Broken Hearts, who are making their radio debut on Q, Acid Jazz Records founder Eddie Pillar and stand-up comic Russell Kane.
