Camper%20advertCamper has appointed Dolce & Gabbana marketer Elisabetta Manzi as global brand director. She replaces Phil McAveety, who has left the footwear brand after two years.

Manzi will join later this month from D&G, where she was heading the development of sub-brand D&G Junior. She has also previously held a marketing role at Nike.

It is expected Manzi will continue to oversee the development of the Majorca-based footwear company Camper as a lifestyle brand. Over recent years, Camper has extended into restaurants and hotels and has recently completed a design-led refurbishment of its flagship London store.

McAveety has left Camper to join Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide as chief brand officer.

During McAveety’s tenure, the brand also built an advertising roster and launched campaigns under the strapline “Imagination Walks”. Previously, advertising was handled in house. In September last year it launched its first outdoor campaign, appointing Madre Buenos Aires as its first advertising agency (MW September 6, 2007). The brand also appointed Starcom to handle its global media planning and buying and Glue London to its digital account.

McAveety joined Nike in 1997 as advertising director for Asia Pacific, holding various posts including UK marketing positions before being promoted to vice-president of EMEA marketing in 2001. He left the sportswear company in August 2006, joining Camper later that year.
