Icahn accuses Yahoo! board of sabotaging Microsofts 24bn takeover bid

Carl Icahn (left), the billionaire investor that is trying to oust the Yahoo! board, claims that it deliberately “sabotaged” Microsoft’s bid to take over the internet company. He made the comments in a letter to Yahoo chairman Roy Bostock.

Icahn says that details from court documents show that the company went to “inordinate lengths” to prevent the £24bn takeover, and adds that it would make it hard for any company to trust, work with or negotiate with Yahoo! in the future.

Yahoo! has rebuffed Icahn’s comments saying that it would have agreed a deal of it had been in the best interests of its shareholders.

Icahn has been building a stake in Yahoo! since the start of May and is attempting to oust its board in a bid to push a Microsoft deal forwards. Last month Yahoo! was forced to postpone its annual general meeting following Icahn’s threats. It has been rescheduled for August 1.
