Scope says disabled at risk of violent attack

Scope, the national disability charity, is launching a campaign to raise awareness of the discrimination faced by disabled people. The campaign launches today (June 6).

The advertising, created by integrated agency The Gate, will run in 200 cinemas between June 9 and June 15 during “Time To Get Equal” week and for a month after the event. The advert highlights the fact that disabled people are four times more likely to be violently assaulted than people without a disability.

The advert features CCTV-style footage showing a man in a wheelchair being assaulted and his attacker running away, leaving him in the street. The end frame reads: “Discrimination against disabled people. Stop it.”

It will be supported by a series of print ads in the national press to highlight the themes of the awareness week.
