Kidston and Tesco launch eco shopping bag

Cath Kidston, the “yummy mummy” designer, has created a range of eco shopping bags to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care, which will be sold exclusively through supermarket chain Tesco. All profits will go to Marie Curie.

The move aims to replicate the high-profile launch of Anya Hindmarsh’s “I’m Not a Plastic Bag” bag, which was sold through at Sainsbury’s last year. The Kidston bag will be made from recycled plastic (PET) bottles in a bid to increase awareness of the pollution created by single-use plastic bags.

The first two designs of the collection, a multi floral fashion print and Kidston’s classic blue spot print – will be launch next month. Four more classic prints will be rolled out over six months, with the number of each design available limited.

Tesco is committed to reducing the number of single-use plastic bags used and says it has given out 1.3 billion fewer bags since launching Green Clubcard Points in August 2006.
