Electronics company Bang & Olufsen has promoted Lars Flyvolm to managing director of the west region, including the UK. Derek Mottershead has resigned after 14 years in the role to “pursue other opportunities”.

Flyvholm has been with B&O since 1991, most recently heading up the product and business management team at its Denmark headquarters. He was also part of the team charged with expanding the upmarket electronics company outside of western Europe and the USA in the 1990s. He became Asia region managing director in 2004, before becoming regional sales director for the US west coast.

Mottershead took over as managing director of Bang & Olufsen UK in 1994, leading the company through a decade of continuous growth, culminating in the UK becoming the largest B&O market in the world. Flyvolm will head the west region.

B&O launched in 1925 after engineering school colleagues Svend Olufsen and Peter Bang, borrowed family money to make the perfect radio. The company now sells its televisions, telephones, DVD players, loud speakers and digital music players, in more than 70 countries.
