Disney launches first robotic toys

Disney Consumer Products is launching its first range of robotic toys to coincide with the launch of new Disney/Pixar animated film, Wall-E. The toys will be going into stores now ahead of the film opening on July 18.

The film tells the story of Wall-E, a lovable robot, who discovers a new purpose in life when he meets a sleek search robot named EVE. The toys are based on the two characters and will be available in high street shops, including Argos, Tesco and Toys R Us.

The range includes a dancing robot, iDance Wall-E, that will work with iPods and MP3 players, and U-Command Wall-E, a remote control robot that can be programmed to turn and move in every direction. There will also be an interactive version of both characters that interact with each other,

There will also be action figures, playsets, plush and collectable robots that will support the robotic range. Simon Price, director of UK toys and consumer electronics at Disney Consumer Products, says: “The robotic toys at the forefront of the new Wall-E range bring Disney’s latest characters and their personalities to life through advanced movement and programming.”

The range has been created with using robotic products from Thinkway Toys and a selection toys from Vivid Imaginations.
