National Geographic is launching a travel offering in the UK. Its first outlet is due to open in London’s West End this autumn.

The company, which is well known for its magazines, book and TV channel, has selected tour operator Titan Travel as its trade partner for the venture. It is the first time it has extended its holiday offering beyond the US market.

Titan is reported to be working on its first co-branded brochure for National Geographic, covering trips to Africa and the Middle East.

The US-based National Geographic Society was founded 120 years ago to “increase and diffuse geographic knowledge” and also supports conservation programmes around the world.

It began a tour operation in the US in 1999, which it now being extended into other markets.

Titan has appointed marketing executive Richard Tarrant to oversee the relationship with National Geographic and it is currently recruiting staff for the store in Regent Street, due to open in October.

The tour operator will be given access to the magazine’s 300,000-strong UK database.
