Orange promotes volunteering with exclusive gig

Orange is launching a volunteering programme that will offer consumers the chance to win concert tickets in exchange for performing good deeds. The gig will take place at the Royal Albert Hall on September 26 this year.

The mobile operator and production company RockCorps have already set-up 50 projects for this year at the Winton Primary School in London. It is seeking volunteers to complete projects such as turning the roof into a playground and creating a vegetable garden.

Orange RockCorps will have capacity for 5,000 fans and the line up will include rapper Busta Rhymes. Consumers cannot buy the tickets and can only gain access by performing four hours of volunteer work. It will be advertised on Channel 4 and will feature additional well-known hip hop, rock and R&B acts.

RockCorps has been running in the USA for four years and has collaborated with artists including Kanye West and Kelis. Orange RockCorps will be working with GCap Media-owned stations Xfm and Choice FM, with online support from Impact UK, as well as MySpace’s channel for charities and non-profit organisations.
